Extraordinary Conditions
Our journey to stewardship of this 5-acre homestead is a remarkable tale that travels from displacement to daydreaming. Through small digital sketches, we imagined a space to not only live on, but with. As people who have lived in cities, we had planned relocation to the desert a year earlier, but were called there by remarkable events.
Accidental
Oasis
The homestead was a 375 sq.ft. relic of the 1960’s, all that remained was a concrete foundation and a “good bones” frame. Through fellowship and study of the unique needs of the creatures and plants, we learned how we would design an off-grid permaculture site where we truly return to the land.
Intentional Community
In 2020 the industrialized west began to reckon with what First Nation, Indigenous, Black people have known for generations. The planet and it’s inhabitants need restoration. Fostering relationships of care and rest, we steward our own place, protected from systems which impede us from experiencing an expansive life.
